Floor plans into 3D virtual tours

Hello everyone!

I just opened market in Colombia with Matterport and sales are great. I have 2 solutions for my clients, one is MP scans and the other one is turn floor plans into 3d Virtual tours when there is no construction.

I´m using [url=www.archilogic.com]Archilogic[/url] to convert my 2D plans into 3D models. Does anyone use this tool or anything similar? I´m exploring new tools like this one.

I founded the Matterport User Group (MUG) to help create community around the Matterport platform; including the Matterport Pro 3D Camera and Capture app; and soon on mobile phones, tablets, glasses, goggles and devices that we haven't even imagined (yet).

I am founder, CEO and Chief Photographer of Atlanta-based We Get Around. We ♥ Matterport.

Somebody else model on my showcase

A) Is it a way that I can have somebody else that have share with me, one of his models with a link, so I can have it as an example for a especific model case scenario???

B) Or how can I get a showcase from my client IPAD, with my models and some other matterport owner, that have made some scans for this same client?? Like unify both matterport scans on one showcase app.

Note: I could imagine that Members of the Forum that are professional videographers - I am not - may be skeptical of creating a two minute video that can only be shot with the Zillow app on a smartphone and edited in the cloud by Zillow. The challenge is that the only video that Zillow (and its sister company, Trulia, will highlight in listings are videos shot with their app.

MP2SQFT OFFLINE / Showcase v2.8.4-0

Hi All!

Matterport have pushed forward their security updates and now files used my MP2SQFT are no longer publicly accessible files.

This means that MP2SQFT is no longer accessible. Additionally, if anyone happened to see the other two tools quietly added to that site, Matterpoint and Matterport2D Furniture Planner are broken too.

The changes also affect Howner.com's amazing Workshop platform that he built that maps the panos against the floorplan. If you did not get a chance to see the possibilities that @bonduell was able to create, you missed out on something awesome.

Showcase v2.8.4-0 is now live. I'll post if I find anything.

Matterport Kills Community's MP2SQFT.com

If you were starting to depend on using the free experimental MP2SQFT.com Beta app created by @Metroplex360 and offered free to the community by the WE GET AROUND FORUM, too-bad-so-sad.

Matterport made a change to their API today (16 September 2016) that killed the MP2SQFT.com free Square Feet - and Square Meters - calculator tool.

While we understand that the unofficial API was experimental, we disclosed Matterport's concern about the use of the data on the webpage. Despite this disclaimer and indicating that neither @Metroplex360 or the WE GET AROUND FORUM is associated with Matterport, they killed the data anyone.

We (all) can only hope that Matterport will enable this API again so that the WE GET AROUND FORUM can offer WP2SQFT.com free to the community again.

Backing Up/Saving Scans Off of iPad

Hey guys,

I'm not sure what I bumped into but this could (I say so lightly) be an option to save our work from our iPads.

I'm not technical enough to go exploring more than I did so I will post what I found and let the technical minded members debunk what I might have found. No problem if you do, hack away.

** Sorry if this has already been discovered and isn't of any value.

I plugged in my iPad and found iTunes has a window under the Apps option on the left nav called "File Sharing".

The capture app is included so I clicked and it showed me some interesting files and folders.

In the bottom right hand corner of the first image you will see "Save to" as an option. I saved the Jobs folder to my desktop to see what I could find.

I have briefly outlined the file types and folder structure below.

Jobs >
Jobs > SweepProcessorData Folder, PNG, SWL file types
Jobs > SweepProcessorData > MMP, PB, MFST (name: manifest.mfst), PNG file types

Again, I don't know what I found nor am I technical enough to go exploring any further than I did. I like all my equipment working.

Can anyone recognize or are able to open these file types to share? Sorry if this is old news. I very much doubt I would be the one to find these files first.

Pano2VR Vs. Livepano (Kolor)

Hello everyone. I'm trying to add to my 360 offerings, and recently purchased AutoPano Giga and Panotour by Kolor. The thing that attracted me was the Livepano ability seen here:

The interweaving of 360 photo with video at specific spots has some fantastic possibilities.

After days of testing, I am pretty disappointed. The final head blowing straw was finding out that it doesn't work very well with iOS platforms. Has anyone else had any luck? Any comparison with Pano2VR?

I know it's mostly Matterport discussions here, but I thought there might be some like minds.

Features included a library of 2D furniture models, Load / Save / Export to PNG / Share to social media and Print as well as full tablet support.

This tool was going to be a freebie for We Get Around Forum Members and is based on the platform that I developed at www.easyifp.com. I had yet to discuss it fully with Dan.

If anyone wants to play with it, the tool cached the floorplans for the few tours that I tested it with. I've prepopulated the URL field with the following tour:

In theory, this tool can still exist if you take a screen grab of your floorplan in Workshop - but the quality won't be as good.

Point cloud to CAD Problems

I have reached out to Veriscian support four times over the past few days and have yet to receive a response.

My unaddressed issue is the following: we have a project site with Veriscian and have uploaded a few of our models for PTS and CAD conversions. Upon the conversion of a point cloud file into ReCap and then trying to open the converted file in AutoCAD, the drawing file is missing and cannot open the file in CAD.

Thinking that it may be on Veriscian's end, I ordered a point cloud from the MP Beta and I'm experiencing the same issue.

Any advice is VERY much appreciated - at this point we have some very unhappy clients. Thank you!

As the-best-of-the-best engineers, I can imagine that you :heart: :heart: :heart: creativity and innovation. I can not imagine what it must be like to spend your time disabling your innovative functionality to break other talented developers initiatives to build on your success.

For platforms to succeed faster - for Matterport to succeed faster, Matterport need a talented pools of 3rd party developers excited, willing and able to build out new and exciting solutions. In some ways, pulling the plug feels like Apple disabling third-party developers to create apps. That's something that we could never imagine happening. Yet Matterport did exactly that.

If I sound frustrated, I am. And, I am frustrated on behalf of 1,800 Forum Members in 73 countries that also love and adore your platform and were just starting to love and adore these third-party solutions that addressed pain-points and opportunities.

Anyway, I apologize that you (probably) worked on the least exciting project - disabling functionality - that you could ever have hoped to work on. That's valuable engineering time, quality control time, testing time and leadership and management time that could have focused on new innovations sooner.

Innovation is a messy process wrote In Search of Excellence Robert H. Waterman Jr. Even if Matterport leadership was not happy with the third-party implementations, letting these solutions live would have enabled great, real-time learning for Matterport simply by listening to its customers.

Friday, 16 September 2016 is not a good day for Matterport. Not a good day for its talented team and not a good day for the Matterport community.

Somedays, it's hard to be Matterport's #1 Fan.

Conversion of Matterport scan to a SqFt diag

A client of mine wrote me the following as he is looking to use these scans for properties he's converting. I did a test scan for him last week. I was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions on where to go for this less than the $40 Matterport is looking to charge:

So I was looking at conversion of the scan to a sqft diagram. Matter port wants 40. Do you have a third party service that's cheaper? My other thought was to get the point map conversion and send it to an architect in the Philippines to convert it.

Thoughts?
